Dawn to Parkway/Kirkwall Transportation Expansion

  • Location: Southwestern Ontario
  • Elements: Addition of approximately 13.6 kilometres (8.5 miles) of 48” diameter pipeline (Brantford to Kirkwall, Ontario) and [up to] 45,000 hp of natural gas compression (Lobo Station, Middlesex Co., Ontario)
  • Capacity: Increase of 527 million cubic feet per day (approximately 550,000 gigajoules per day)
  • Project Completion Date: Fall, 2011

The Dawn to Parkway/Kirkwall transportation expansion project will add up to 45,000 hp of natural gas compression and incremental capacity of 527 million cubic feet per day to Union’s Dawn to Parkway/Kirkwall pipeline system in southwestern Ontario. This pipeline system is sometimes called the Dawn-Trafalgar system.

Union’s storage and transportation assets are an important link in the flow of natural gas from all major North American supply basins to growing demand markets in Ontario, Quebec, and the US Northeast. The project is expected to be in service in 2011.
